How Do You Know Your HVAC Tech Is Not an Axe Murderer? (Weapon Selection May Vary)
Since the pandemic started, homeowners have let very few people enter their homes. What if your AC breaks down? Homeowners need to get it fixed, but when it comes to your family’s safety, there’s no room for taking chances.
In Texas, HVAC technicians are required to carry a card from the Texas Department of Licensing. Better companies attract higher-quality technicians and one way they show that is with a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) card.

If your HVAC tech does not have a TDLR card, they have NOT been independently vetted and cleared by the state of TX. This requirement is part of the laws on HVAC contractors. Reputable HVAC contractors will require all their technicians to carry the cards and be registered with the state. In addition, the companies may have background checks as part of the hiring process.
With so many service companies vying for homeowner business, it can be easy to forget that the cheapest isn’t always the best. Client communication can help give peace of mind on who is coming with text messages providing technician photos and bios before they arrive at the home.
